The City of Lavon conducts full volume tests of its Outdoor Warning System the 1st Wednesday of each month at 12:00 noon, weather permitting, The system is designed to alert those engaging in /outdoor/ activity that an emergency situation is expected to directly impact Lavon, and to immediately seek shelter indoors to find out more information. This can include local TV or radio news, or NOAA Weather Radio. Weather radios can be purchased from local and online retailers at a reasonable cost. Sirens will not be tested if inclement weather is present or forecasted to be in the area.
Although communities vary specific criteria for activating OWS, there are some commonalities in determining activation guidelines.
