City of Lavon Open Records Request for Public Information

The City of Lavon’s goal with respect to open records requests is to provide high-quality customer service to residents, business owners, and stakeholders in accordance with state law. Section 552.234 of the Texas Public Information Act provides a person may make a written request for information by delivering the request by U.S. mail, electronic mail, hand delivery, or any appropriate method approved by the governmental body to the public information officer or the officer’s designee. The City has designated the City Secretary as the public information officer and has designated the following addresses and methods for receipt of all public information requests. Accordingly, please submit all open records requests as follows:

Website Request: Use the Contact Us link, and select the Open Records Request department.

 

Your request will be forwarded to the appropriate department for processing and you will be contacted within ten (10) business days from the date of your request. If your request cannot be fulfilled within ten (10) business days, either for inspection or copies, you will be notified in writing of a date and hour when this information will be available to you.

 

Please be advised that as a requestor of public information, you are subject to a copy charge of 10 cents for each page of your request for copies. Subchapter F of the Open Records Act, Sections 552.261 through 552.272, governs the charges for copies of and access to public information.

 

As a requestor, you may choose to have access to public information or copies of the information, or both. Should your request for copies contain 50 or fewer pages of paper, we will charge for photocopying only. However, should your request for copies require staff time to transport from more than one building or storage facility or personnel time spent to format or obscure confidential information contained within a record containing both confidential and public information, you may be assessed charges for materials, labor and overhead. If the documents are stored at our offsite facility there will be a transportation fee of $15 plus retrieval fees of $5 totaling $20 plus the copy charge of $.10 per page. A written statement as to the amount of time that was required to produce and provide the copy will be signed by the officer providing the public information. This statement is available to you upon request at no additional cost.
